Spitting Images come to Bangkok

Launching in December 2010: Madame Tussauds Bangkok
Launching in December 2010: Madame Tussauds Bangkok
By the end of 2010 you will be unable to move for A-list celebrities in Bangkok. Or rather the “celebrities” are the ones who will not be moving. That is because on December 4, Southeast Asia’s first branch of Madame Tussaudsopens for public gawping.
Madame Tussauds is, of course, a gallery of waxworks established 250 years ago by its eponymous French sculptor. Her original showcase established in London in 1884. To this day, it still draws daily hordes of camera-toting tourists.
Madame Tussauds Bangkok will be the fame-mongering brand’s 10th worldwide branch—and Asia’s third, afterHong Kong and Shanghai. The US$15m development is based on the 6th Floor of the Siam Discovery Center, and recently unveiled figures of Angelina JolieBrad PittMichael Jackson and legendary local screen idol, Mitr Chaibancha.
Around “30 percent” of the 70 models populating Bangkok’s Tussauds will be Southeast Asian figures, according to General Manager Paul Williams. Among Thailand’s entries are punk-haired celebrity pathologist Porntip Rojanasunan, martial arts icon Tony Jaa, pop singers Tata Young and Ad Carabao and soap opera pin-upPancake-Khemanit Jamikorn. Regal figureheads Prince Mahidol and the Princess Mother will also go on display in the Royal Hall.
The foreign faces, meanwhile, include Princess DianaQueen Elizabeth IIthe Dalai LamaMahatma Gandhi,BeethovenEinsteinGeorge ClooneyBrad PittJohnny DeppWill SmithStephen GerrardBruce Lee,Tom CruiseAngelina JolieJim Carrey and the ubiquitous David Beckham.

Each figure takes four to six months to craft in London at a cost of around 8 million baht, explaining why branches are updated with just two or three annual additions. Aside from taking snapshots every six seconds, visitors will also be able to jostle over interactive audio-visual elements. These reportedly include answering the hotline phone in President Obama’s Oval Office; playing one-on-one with Chinese basketball giant Yao Ming; practicing kung-fu with Bruce Lee; weightlifting with Paweena Tongsuk; or acting out a drama scene with Anne Thongprasom.
At a press launch, the Thai soap opera star admitted having “this chill down my spine” when first e-mailed a photo of her likeness. “It looked so much like me. Just like when I stand in front of a mirror.” Promising stuff, indeed.
Interestingly, while Madame Tussauds is a measurement of fame, it claims an apolitical stance. As Paul Williams says, “Madame Tussauds has something for everyone.” Therefore, striking doppelgangers of serial killers likeDennis Nilsen and mass-murdering Adolf Hitler take their due podiums in the London edition’s Chamber of Horrors (which also exhibits the guillotine blade that killed Marie Antoinette).
If that sounds grisly, consider that the original Marie Tussaud wrote in her memoirs of rifling through corpses for decapitated heads of executed citizens, from which to make death masks, which were later paraded through Parisian streets as macabre revolutionary flags.
It is a strange beast, celebrity worship. If Marie Tussaud did not pioneer the dubious pastime that spawned such fripperies as fan clubs, paparazzi and Perez Hilton, she certainly set the concept in wax. Meanwhile, Paul Williams sees Tussauds as “educational, because parents can explain to their children who these famous people are.” In that context, the average library must be a regular breeding ground for geniuses.
One of the funniest things I think I’ve seen occurred during a high-school trip to London’s Madame Tussauds. A teenage Italian tourist moved slowly yet purposefully towards my friend, Brodie, as if to scrutinize him close-up. Brodie, to his credit, remained absolutely still. Then, with perfect comic timing, just as the girl approached kissing distance, he very suddenly twitched.  Her scream of shock filled the massive exhibition hall. We never could figure out who she thought he was… Jet Li or Zhang Ziyi lookalikes beware!
Madame Tussauds Bangkok opens December 4, 2010. Admission is THB700 ($23) for adults and THB500 (US$16) for children.

“Forget me not” refers to the flower ring with the words “Yah Luerm Chan” engraved on it that“Khem” (Tik) gives “Wadee” (Anne) as a symbol of their undying love and a reminder to never forget one another.
The story starts off with Khem and Wadee as college sweethearts.  Faced with a family obstacle Wadee disappears from Khem’s life and is forced to quit school and marry an elderly man.  Meanwhile Khem is left devastated when he finds out she left to marry a wealthy elderly man.  He’s scarred but committed more than ever to become a successful business man.  His past has now turned him into a cold heartless and vengeful person.  Wadee walks back into Khem’s life as she’s trying to piece her life back together after the passing of her husband.  Although Khem wants anything but to pour alcohol on his wounds, he’s also determined to set the record straight and get even for the torture and pain that Wadee has caused him.  Misunderstandings from the past become wedge for the two heartbroken souls.  Will their hearts ever heal?  Will Khem’s revenge be taken so far to the point of no return?  Will he be labelled a merciless man who doesn’t deserve to be forgiven or loved?  Stay tune.

This is a remake of Anne Siream and Pete Thongchua’s 1998 version, so for those of you who had the opportunity to watch that version, this version will evidently give you a different feel.   This 2014 version will make it’s debut on April 3rd.

Dara Poll: Who is amongst the dara’s favorite?

Today is new year’s eve, “Bunterng TV” would like to put out a firework to celebrate and give out happiness to the Thai people with “Dara Poll”. This is special because we only do it once a year going around asking celebrities in the Thai ET, unbias vote from dara. One vote per person with about 200 people. This is the result we gather.
nadech kugimiya
“Pra’ek in your heart”
This position, you not only have to be handsome you have to have a good personality too. Last yearNadech Kugimiya stole the previous champ from Ken Theeradeth. This year Nadech still maintain his position for 2 consecutive year with 22.5%. Pe’Ken with troll pra’ek Boy Pakorn coming in second with 15.0%. As for number three, it would goes to Poh Natawut and Tik Jessadaporn, who returns to the poll with 10.5% vote. While number four is Vier Sukollawat, who made the top 5 with 8.8%. Mark Prinmade top 5 with 7.9%. Apparently, only one pra’ek from channel 7 made the list. As for Boy Pakorn, this year came in stronger unexpectedly when he didn’t made to the poll last year.
aum patchrapa
“Nang’ek in your heart”
This year is another comeback for supstar nang’ek Aum Patchrapa which most votes are from the men whether they’re in the channel and out of the channel with 25.5% stealing from second place Chompoo Araya. Last year Chompoo came in fifth place but this year with second place with 20.3% vote. Number three comes in close with 19.0% for Noon Woranuch who has a really outstanding character as “Lam Yong”. Number four is Anne Thongprasom whose rating never drop. Even without lakorn, her name will always make the chart; this year with 9.5%. Number five is Pancake Khemanit who always goes out with Pe’Mee to do merit and charity with 8.3% vote. You can see that last year’s champ like Janie vanished with her single status. Even Yaya Urassaya who were second last year didn’t make it either.

“Singer in your heart”
It looks like no one can steal the place of supstar like Bird Thongchai because his score went as high as 30.4%. Second place goes to female singer Parn Thanaporn but this year Pe’Toon Bodyslam also shared with her with a vote of 12.2%. Number 3 comes in strong for Stamp  Apiwachorn, who is a favorite by many kids along with soothing voice Aof Pongsak with 10.0% vote. As for number four, duo singer New and Jew comes in strong, that their colleagues have to give it to them with 8.9%. The last place is Bie Sukrit who drop from number 2 last year to number 5 with 6.0%.

“Beautiful off the screen”
Last year Aum Patchrapa stole the crown from 3 consecutive year winner from Aff Taksaorn; this year she still maintain the number one position with 22.7% vote. Her on and off screen rivalry likeChompoo Araya and nang’ek with swollen lip like Min Pechaya comes in second place with 17.8%. Number three this year goes to Kwan Usamanee with 13.7%. Even though without any projects out,Aff Taksaorn still made to the list with 11.3%. The last place goes to Mai Davika as “Mae Nak 1000 million” with a 10.9% vote.

“Handsomeness off the lens”
It is expected that Nadech will remain as the champ for 2 consecutive years as godly handsome with an overwhelmingly 55.5% vote. This made the second place like Vier Sukollawat and Porshe Saraneyes wide open because their percentage is so far behind with a 13.8%. Number three goes to James Jirayu who comes in as first year with 10.3%. Number four is Mario Maurer with the title “Pra’ek 1000 million” guaranteed he isn’t going anywhere with a 7.8%. Number five goes to Boy Pakorn with 5.9%.

“Sexiest of the Year”
Aum Patchrapa monopolize this sexy poll with 56.3%. Number two goes to Baitoey R-Siam with 11.4%. The number three goes to Poo Priaya, who received sexy awards at many stages comes with 10.6%. Yaya Ying comes in number 4 with 7.0% and Chompoo Araya with number five for 5.5%.

“New Rising Star”
This is the highest vote ever that has happen for this year’s champ because James Jirayu score a 58.5%, who was born from the project “Supaboroot Juthathep” and along came commercial deals and events. Number two, number three and number five goes to all the children who play as “Wan  Chalerm” in “Tong Nuea Kao”. “Damn of the Year”
No celebrity wants to be in this category but since someone dares to give it to them, they should dare to accept it. Let’s start with nang’ek Tangmo Pattaratida who always has a strong theory that cuts to the heart and even included her boyfriend Tono Pakin along as well. Even though the two say they are straightforward people but just like Khun Boy Takongkiet cautious that, “I think being a frank speaking person is good but being that you need to have manners. You have to see what it is affecting”…Baitoey R-Siam has another name other than her title “Short to the ear”, which we are use to, is now in the news being associate with former Prime Minister… Janie Avasahame has to resign and accept to the voices that can’t accept her “quick wedding” even no matter how many times she has to use her mouth to speak that she didn’t steal the marriage certificate from anyone… Kratae R-Siam has always been allegedly as third hand in relationship that she couldn’t escape a strike… Amy Maxim reported the police to handcuff her boyfriend Howard Wang and comes out to squeeze her boobs, opps her tears on tv; instead of getting sympathy vote, she got black strike on her.

“Dara Poll” is like a mirror image of what you do. When there is love there is hate. If you want people to love you or hate you it depends on your action.
